Legrant's case on cancellation of canal due for vessels calling to 4 harbors of Odessa port was recognized by the National Maritime Ranking as the best case in the area of port business protection of 2017.
The award in nomination “Business protection” was presented to Legrants' team on the solemn ceremony by Alexander Shchekin, the President of Container Lines Association of Ukraine.
“Legrant helped to frame that indignation, which was caused by setting the canal due up, and thanks to the high level of professionalism, completely titanic work on systematization of opinions of experts, and due to relevant legal strategy with the Container Lines Association of Ukraine, a positive result was achieved” – Alexander Shchekin emphasized.
The award of the winner of the ranking was bestowed to the Managing partner Tatyana Titarenko and the team, which supported the case, – the Senior lawyer Danil Hristich and the lawyer Liudmila Sizonenko.
“This case is an example of how tandem of key players and lawyers container traffic market, multiplied by competency and intolerance to illegal actions, are able to provide the result even in the most desperate disputes. We have not only created a positive legal precedent, but also have helped all business entities to recover their damages, having recovered about half a million dollars. Thank you for the high estimation of our work and for the award. It’s a maritime Oscar for our team, because it shows a credibility and recognition of port business community and experts. The National Maritime Ranking is annualy held since 2007. The Ranking is initiated by the leading industry magazine “Ports of Ukraine” and is upheld by information analysis center “Black Sea Trans”, Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine and relevant associations – Association of International Freight Forwarders of Ukraine, “Ukrport”, “Port Operators Union”, The Association of Marine Agencies of Ukraine, BINSA and others.
It should be reminded that one of the major disputes in port industry in 2017 was charging a canal due for vessels calling to Karantinnaya, Cabotage, New and Lanzheron harbors of Odessa Sea Port. The case was successfully solved by Legrant's lawyers together with the Container Lines Association of Ukraine.
